What happens in a fitting?
Your Master Fitter will walk you through each step of the fitting process. He is there to fully explain every step and will answer all of your questions. Generally this is the process:
- There will be a discussion to find out about your game and your goals.
- Your Master Fitter will analyze your current set of clubs … and will show you how each club is working for you or against you.
- You will then go to the fitting bay where static measurements will be taken.
- Then you will be asked to hit a number of clubs so that your swing can by analyzed with the Trackman 4 Launch Monitor. This newest model features a Dual Radar system, where one radar is capturing the clubhead while the other radar is capturing the ball flight. We get instant feedback of club delivery, launch, ball flight, and landing, including the following:
- Using the FitChip, your fitter will locate your load and release points on the shaft during your swing.
- You and your Master Fitter also will then start selecting various clubhead and shaft options to optimize your swing….the data from each combination will be analyzed for maximum performance on the Trackman 4. You will be able to compare performance against your current bag so you can assess the improvement.
- You will make the final selection and then move to the final step of selecting grips, color choices in ferrules and shafts, and other super customization options.
How long does a fitting session take?
A full bag fitting can take 2 hours. The golfer and the process are never rushed. Selecting the ideal equipment for your swing is our goal and we will take as much time as needed to achieve that goal.
Why do you charge a fitting fee, when other stores do not?
Expert Professional ClubFitters must be paid for their time … just like a teaching professional would charge for lessons. Free fittings are usually indicative of non-qualified staff who are really glorified sales people. Or worse, someone who spends 5-10 minutes with you and works out of a fit bag. The old adage rings true: you get what you pay for.
What should I bring to a fitting?
Please bring the following: all of the clubs you are currently using, your golf shoes, golf glove if you use one, comfortable golf clothing and an open mind.
My swing varies on a day to day basis, how will that effect the fitting?
Inconsistent swings are often the result of poorly fit golf equipment. Your swing and results will be more consistent after you have perfectly fit and precisely built custom clubs ideal for you and your unique swing.
I just bought a new set of clubs somewhere else, can you fit them for me?
It’s difficult. We can occasionally make some adjustments to other equipment but it is on a case by case basis and with limitations. Most brands do not make clubs that are designed to be adjusted; thus they tend to be brittle and can easily break. If you try to change a shaft or spec on a club, many brands will not warranty the product. But feel free to bring the clubs in and we will analyze them for you and let you know what, if anything, can be done.
Questions on custom clubs
Will custom clubs drastically change my game?
They certainly should. Inconsistent swings are often the result of poorly fit golf equipment. Your swing and results will be more consistent after you have custom clubs ideal for your unique swing. In some cases, your swing may not be ideal. In that case we have two choices: (a) do you want to change your swing? or (b) should we fit you into a club that will minimize the effects of your swing? Either way, we can help you enjoy a better game.
Will custom clubs Eliminate my slice? My hook?
If your slice or hook is the result of ill-fitting clubs, yes we can fix it. But, if the slice or hook is due to a swing fault, then there are two option: (a) get some lessons to correct the slice or hook; or (b) if you are not inclined to change your swing, we can build a club that will minimize the slice or hook.
Will my new custom clubs perform as well outside as they did in the fitting bay?
Simple answer: Yes.
How long will it take to get my custom clubs?
We build your clubs within 3 business days…and sometimes less. Please let us know if you have time constraints. We are also able to drop ship if you here on a short visit and will be leaving town shortly after your fitting.
If I lose a custom club, can it be replaced?
Yes it can be replaced if the clubhead and shaft are still currently in the line. If not, we can closely match the performance characteristics of the club you lost. All of our golfer’s records (Club Analysis Form, Build Sheets, Questionnaires) are kept on file and can be accessed immediately.
Should my Fairway Woods match my driver?
Not necessarily. As a general rule, we do try to put you into woods that will give the same type of performance characteristics. For example, if you are a low handicap player, you probably would want a driver with a smaller profile and fairway woods that are rather compact…but the model does not have to match. In shafts, too, you would want similar torque, flex and kickpoint characteristics so that your golf clubs “feel” the same throughout your set. All of these factors are taken into consideration during the fitting process.
If I am just a beginner, should I wait to be fit?
Run, don’t walk, to get in here right away. The beginner more than anyone should be fit from the start. If you have the correct clubs in your hand, you actually can learn and improve. You can get your swing in the correct “groove”. Learn good habits early in your golfing career. Sadly, many beginners try to learn the game playing Uncle Harry’s old clubs….and tragically many of those beginners do not enjoy the game or learn incorrectly and give up in frustration. You don’t need to have a full bag of 14 clubs to get started. You can begin with just 2 or 3 clubs and fill in your set as you progress.
If I am a high handicap player, should I have more lessons before I get fit for clubs?
Lessons will be more productive with clubs that fit you and your swing. Professional Teachers with integrity are unanimous: they can’t teach around ill-fitting clubs. The sooner you can come in and get fit for your unique swing, the easier it will be for you to learn and truly enjoy the game.
How often should I get new clubs?
When fit properly, your custom clubs should give you many years of great enjoyment. If your swing changes or if there is a change in your physical ability, then your clubs may need some alterations. Once you become a KZG Player, you will be invited back each year for a free “tune-up” to check the status of your game and your clubs.
How much do Custom Clubs cost?
Custom fit and custom built clubs cost about the same as “off-the-rack” clubs before the big giveaway discount pricing wars start. Custom clubs are great value in the long run as they will be perfect for your swing. With ill-fitting clubs, golfers have a tendency to re-shaft or continually buy new sets in a vain attempt to make their clubs work for them. Here is an example of our average prices, but please note they could go higher if you select an exotic shaft: Drivers $249 – 399 Fairway woods $219 – 269 Hybrids average $119-189. Forged Irons $109 – 249 Cast Irons average $79-99 Wedges $109 – 179 Putters and chippers $99 – 249
